8/8 Tyr’s Big Secret
Shortly after receiving the Spear of Draupnir, Brok senses something suspicious about Tyr. The dwarf confronts the Norse god and Tyr quickly stabs him in the chest. As this happens, it is revealed that Tyr has been Odin all along. In a shocking plot, the malevolent god used his shape-shifting powers to spy on the group and manipulate them according to his will.
This is the big moment that starts the final act of the play. After seeing this, Sindri is incredibly broken and is the only character without a happy ending. After the credits you can attend a ceremony for the deceased blacksmith. Sindri attends the ritual but is always silent.
7/8 Thor Becomes Odin’s Enemy
After fighting Thor in a boss fight during the final assault on Asgard, Kratos does his best not to kill him. Miraculously, he can persuade Thor to come to his senses. God eventually turns against his father and refuses to take his anger out on Kratos, eventually Odin kills his son.
Odin treated Thor like he was a scumbag, and Thor’s wife, Sif, had been trying to get her husband out from under her finger all this time. Sif and Thor’s daughter Thrud are grieving, but find solace in knowing that Thor turned against Odin at the last minute.
6/8 Freya Breaks Her Curse and Forgives Kratos
Freya cannot travel to other realms with you in the 2018 game because Odin cast a spell that trapped her in Midgard. He wants to kill Kratos in Ragnarok because of his son’s death, but reluctantly asks him to help break the spell. The two complete their mission and he can once again roam the realms freely.
However, the biggest spoiler here is that it finally puts his desire for revenge to rest. She can’t forgive him right away, but her regret for killing Baldur and her overt concern for Atreus convince her to give it a try.
5/8 Giants Still Alive… A Kind
Atreus is summoned to Ironwood in what appears to be a dream sequence. There, he meets the giant Angrboda, who reveals the fate his people have drawn for him. He also learns that not all Giants were killed by the Aesir gods. Many hid by putting their souls in small orbs.
Angrboda guards them and gives the bag of orbs to Atreus, waiting to fulfill his foretold destiny. The two put one of the spirits inside a snake. The ceremony disappointed and surprised them, but their words that the serpent began to grow tells us that the serpent eventually became the world serpent, Jormungandr.
4/8 Norns Explain Prophecy Imprecise
Kratos, Freya and Mimir visit the Norns to learn more about their future. He is warned that the meeting will not be as satisfying as he had hoped. This turns out to be completely true. When they find the Norns, they taunt the three of them and playfully repeat everything they say.
However, the women reveal an important piece of information. The destiny drawn by the giants is not destined to come true. This is what is likely to happen because humans are so predictable. Kratos always kills the gods, no matter how hard he tries. As sad as this is, it shows Kratos that he can change what is supposed to be his destiny.
3/8 Kratos Makes Peace with the Aesir
Odin clears up some confusion for Atreus by stating that not everyone in Asgard is a god. In fact, the people there are normal people and worship him as they see Odin as a benevolent god who saved them from Thimblewinter.
During the events of Ragnarok, they realize that Odin is using them as bait, placing them right in front of the wall so they take the brunt of any potential attack. Kratos and the other gods work to ensure their safety and are often shown to be alive and well after defeating Odin. This includes Thrud and Sif, who especially despise Atreus.
2/8 Why Does Odin Ask For Help From Atreus?
After Odin persuades Atreus to come to Asgard, he explains why he asked the young adult for help. Odin spent lifetimes trying to search for this little crack in reality that holds all of existence’s answers. Only by completing this mask can he have hope to look inside. Atreus helps him complete the mask.
At the end of the game, Atreus has the ability to use it and find out what the green light is holding. However, he eventually breaks the mask and foils Odin’s plan. The game defies expectations by not providing answers to Atreus, Odin, or you as to what really happened in the mysterious floating cut.
1/8 Atreus Leaves and Kratos Spends Postmatch with Freya
God of War Ragnarok draws the line between a linear action game and an open world adventure. You are free to do lots of side quests in your spare time or wait until the end of the game to clear all the extra activities.
There is no new game plus mode, and you spend most of your post-game time listening to conversations about what the world is like now and learning more about the past. The biggest point to note here is that Freya replaces Atreus. Kratos’ son decides to set out on his own in search of more giants.
