Sonic Frontiers: 10 Greatest Enemy Designs

One aspect of Sonic Frontiers that stands out from other Sonic games is how unique the enemy designs are. This is especially true in open spaces, as the villains featured in Cyber ​​Space levels are your standard Sonic fair. They all come from a variety of inspirations and don’t all feel like they came from the same playset.


All the regular villains, Guardians and Titans on various maps are unique and interesting. Some designs are repeated in the game, but not to a large extent. The great designs, combined with the music and great fights, make the enemy bandits gallery a key feature of Frontiers.

10/10 Spring

An enemy that is essentially a bow has appeared on various platforms such as Super Mario Galaxy. It’s fun to fight these enemies and act as another way to circumvent the environment. The bow in Sonic Frontier is no different. Spring enemies, easily found on the Isle of Ares, are often in isolation.

Unlike other spring enemies like those in Mario Galaxy, they can be killed. To eliminate them, simply hit the bow from above to the ground. Spring enemies are always welcome in platform games as you can use them to get around faster.

9/10 Squid

Located on several islands in the game, Squid is probably one of the first few Guardians you will fight. He looks cool with a head shape reminiscent of the sentries from the Matrix series. However, Squid has a less intimidating design.

Squid has a purple platform that follows his trail, that’s how you beat him. The ride can be a little tricky, but once you do, go fast to get to the head. Suitable for an entry-level boss and one of the most fun to fight. When you finish all Sonic Frontiers, Squid will be one of the first Guardians to come to mind.

8/10 asura

Asura is a Guardian who definitely fits this title. Asura is a huge beast with a huge anime influence in its design. One of the first Guardians you will meet and encounter on Kronos Island, Asura makes a good first impression.

To fight the monster, you need to wait until you can lower your hands to the ground and go through the blue rings to rise to one of its three weak points. In later stages, they add to the challenge by adding red rings that send you back. Asura is one of the early Guardian bosses with its fun fighting and clumsy design.

7/10 caterpillar

Specially found on Ouranos Island, the Caterpillar is one of the most disturbing designs. First of all, the music sounds in line with the ant invasion as we approach the Caterpillar. Like the design itself, it emits absolutely creepy crawly vibes. All this before the war itself begins.

You move on two circular rails and must collect the blue orbs while avoiding the red orbs and the Caterpillar’s laser. In this respect, it is somewhat similar to the Blue Sphere special stage. Once you have them all, Caterpillar is now vulnerable to attacks. His challenge befits the last candidate. The Caterpillar is one of the most memorable Guardians to come out of Sonic Frontiers, but perhaps only if you have a phobia about insects.

6/10 Shark

There’s a shark in the sandy deserts of Ares Island! With no Chief Brody in sight, Sonic must go head-to-head with the Shark. Having a Guardian with a sand shark is pretty cool in itself. It also fits the position that most of the other Guardians can’t take advantage of.

Unfortunately, actual combat is mostly a quick affair and ends pretty quickly. Still, the design itself and its adaptability to the field it’s fighting make it one of the coolest enemies in Sonic Frontiers. You can’t go wrong with a shark in your game.

5/10 Castle

Fortress is one of the few enemies to offer a great sci-fi aesthetic. They are encountered on Chaos Island, appearing to have come out of a space opera. You won’t miss them as it is a necessary struggle to open one of the portals. The Boss is like Squid in following his trail, because when there’s no earth under him, the grind rails will show up under him.

The music track being played is one of the best for Guardian bosses, and speeding through the tracks is pretty fun to tackle. A little short but still enjoyable. Resembling a great spaceship and offering a short but fun fight, the castle is one of the most memorable designs for the Guardians.

4/10 Ghost

A common metaphor for enemies in action-adventure games is to have a regular object used for progression, but that’s actually bad. And now Sonic has one too. Found only on Ouranos Island, the Ghost statue seems like a necessary thing to get an item. However, Ghost will show its true colors when you light up the blue trail around it.

Ghost is essentially a platform boss fight where you have to reach the statue that powers it and turn it off. After the four statues are destroyed, Ghost is done. One of the best soundtracks for the Guardians, the music, the neat trope of the enemy, and the fun gameplay combine to make him one of the cooler bosses.

3/10 Giganto

The first Titan you fight in Sonic Frontier is the grim-looking Giganto. The Giganto’s main focus in design is its xenomorph-like mouth. You’ll probably feel it, considering it’s very scary and quite difficult to begin with.

It takes some time to learn how the titans work and you need to come prepared with lots of rings. Every Titan’s music is amazing, including Giganto’s. It gives off the Metal Gear Rising vibe that fills us with excitement. Giganto’s design is so cool that they copied it for the second-to-last boss and gave it a more red-and-white color scheme.

2/10 End

Sonic Frontiers’ final boss is The End, and it’s pretty unique. First, the name is both cheesy and great for a Sonic game. The design itself is a simple red and purple moon, but giant orbs as bosses always have a gigantic, larger-than-life size to them. With how big it is and how slowly their health is depleted, it feels almost unkillable.

The combat itself is an Ikaruga-style shoot ’em up. Long, tough, and one of the best end bosses in Frontiers. Unfortunately, what sets this boss behind is that it can only be fought on hard difficulty. You do a quick event on easy or normal difficulty and then it’s over. This fight should be on any difficulty.

1/10 wyvern

The best and funniest Titan boss should go to Wyvern. Its design looks sickly, with a core centipede body similar to something you’d see on a Yu-Gi-Oh board. The most fun Titan fight as he flies like you unlike other Titans standing on the ground. This makes the challenge much more attractive.

The music is excellent like all the other Titans. Not to mention that the episode before playing as Super Sonic was also the best with platform gameplay. All things considered, Wyvern is up there with The End in terms of the best boss fights in the game.
